Shenandoah Mountain 100 is coming together!

The course is getting dialed in. The swimming hole is looking great. The
campground is close to being ready. The rattlesnake is off the course for
the moment.

Shenandoah Mountain 100 Trail work - Lynn and Wolf Ridge Trail

Lynn Trail was tight after the first switchback

cut it back a bit

cleaned it up so it will ride super nice

Jasper says "thumbs up!"

the top of Lynn Trail

left is Lynn right is Wolf Ridge Trail to Tillman Road

Matt takes a minute break from cutting down the mystery grass

Ryan heads up to find more waist tall grass

most all the mature trees are all dead on wolf ridge

and the trail has closed in

Matt gets busy cutting it back open

time to retreat!

the final product is looking good!

The work has begun in earnest on the Shenandoah Mountain 100 course. Andrew Jasper helped me on the lower slopes of Lynn Trail while Ryan Fawley and Matt Smith went straight for the tall grass on Wolf Ridge Trail. Looks like a few more days will be spent on Wolf Ridge Trail. Last year we put in close to 100 man hours clearing this trail because of the Gypsy Moth devastation.
Looks like we could hit that again for 2009. Chestnut Ridge alonng the Wild Oak Trail just below Little Bald Knob is next weeks mission.
